A carer and toddler group is a support group where parents and carers can meet and develop friendships in an exclusive and friendly environment while the children play and socialise together.

Each carer or parent is responsible for his or her child at all times.

What are the advantages of a carer and toddler group?

 Children get to interract with others, yet have their parent/carer close by; good for building confidence.
 The group provides a stepping stone for children preparing to go to playschool.

For parents the advantages are ;

Carer and toddler groups give the parents the chance to play with his/her child away from domestic distractions.
The group provides a support network locally.

How the group works;

 Parents and carers look after their own children and stay in the room with them at all times.
All parents are asked to play an active role in the group. At least to play withor supervise their own chilren and join in the activies or run an activity.
Parents are encouraged to participate in the set-up and organisation of each session - put out tables, clear away toys, etc.
A voluntary contribution of €3 is suggested per family per session. All money raise goes to the running of the group.
Children must be accompanied to the toilet by the parent, carer or an adult nominated by the parent/carer.
The facilities must be left as they are found, so help tidy up, return cups to the kitchen, take away rubbish, etc.
